Wings, Blues to face off in Calumet in Kraft Hockeyville game
The Red Wings will play the St. Blues in an NHL preseason game at the Calumet Colosseum on Sept. 26.
The community and the Colosseum were the winners of the 2019 Kraft Hockeyville USA contest.
Hosting an NHL preseason game is one of the prizes awarded to the winning small town and rink, along with $150,000 in rink upgrades and $10,000 in equipment from NHLPA Goals & Dreams.
The game will be nationally televised at 7 p.m. on Sept. 26 on the NBC Sports Network.
“The Red Wings are very excited to have the unique opportunity to take part in Kraft Hockeyville USA,” said Red Wings executive vice president and general manager Ken Holland in a statement. “There are many Red Wings fans throughout northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula, so we’re excited to share in this special day to celebrate our great game playing against an old rival in the St. Louis Blues.”
Built in 1913, the Colosseum is considered the oldest hockey rink in the world.
