All hail Little Caesars Playoff Champions
It wouldn’t be the end of the amateur hockey season without the LCAHL playoffs, which celebrate their 39th anniversary this year. Eight Midget division championship games kicked off this year’s playoffs Feb. 24-25 at Belfor Training Center, the Red Wings’ practice ice in the new Little Caesars Arena, and the Dearborn Ice Skating Center. They were to be followed by scores of other championships at other metro arenas.
According to LCAHL.org, "The experience of going to a tournament ranges from the underdog with something to prove, to the top seed seeking undisputed supremacy. The nearly 10,000 players competing in the 39th annual Little Caesars Amateur Hockey League Playoffs will be part of one of the largest youth hockey tournaments in the world.
“Planning for an event that utilizes 350 hours of ice time and creating a game schedule based on win percentages to allow for fair competition has led the LCAHL to offer multiple divisions during the Playoffs. Regardless of a team's level of experience, the league has always offered a division for a team to play in with equal level of competition. By offering more divisions, this provides more players the thrill of competing for a championship. This core belief was a founding principle in establishing the LCAHL in 1978."
Here are this year’s LCAHL playoff champions. We congratulate them all!
