No hat tricks, no curly fries; so Arby’s sets the bar lower
The Red Wings’ lack of offense has finally affected the curly fries situation.
The organization’s promotion with Arby’s has been altered after more than a decade.
It used to be a Red Wings player had to get a hat trick for fans to collect a free order of curly fries at participating Arby’s locations the following day. But after Detroit had no hat tricks last season and a combined three for the two previous ones, it is now only necessary for the Wings as a team to score three goals in a game for fans to get free curly fries.
“We want to continue to reward fans and give them the best chance possible to get free Arby’s Curly Fries,” an Arby’s spokesperson said on ESPN.com. “After last season, we realized there were too few occurrences of Hat Tricks, leaving fans hungry for more Curly Fries. This year, we hope to reward our diehard Arby’s and Red Wings fans with a chance to savor our Curly Fries more often.”
Detroit scored at least three goals 39 times in 82 games in 2017-18 and on three occasions in nine games this season. And, of course, no one has a hat trick yet this season.
